US to India Flights

Delta Airlines Announces Direct Flights to India

Here’s a good news for all the travel-buffs who have plans to visit India the next year!

A major USA-based airline- Delta, is to make its comeback with non-stop flights to India in 2019 from the USA. In the month of May this year, Atlanta-based airline has also announced to return to India from all its hubs situated in USA which includes Atlanta (ATL), Los Angeles (LAX), Detroit (DTW), Minneapolis (MSP), Seattle (SEA), New York (JFK), Salt Lake City (SLC) & New York (LGA). The first hub in India where Delta airline would be operating is BOM (Mumbai).

However, Delta is yet to decide which hub to fly first from with the direct flights to India but it would hopefully be Mumbai. And, within the USA, the cities which Delta Airlines flights focus are- Cincinnati Boston and Raleigh.

Delta’s Return: Overcoming Roadblocks for Non-stop Flights to India

In 2008, Delta Air Lines was a part of Indian aviation market until it was forced to withdraw due to its high airfares even more than the subsidized airline including Emirates, Qatar Airways and Etihad.

This roadblock for non-stop Delta Airlines Flights to India from the USA and the Middle-East government subsidies issues are removed with the recent skies agreement between the UAE, the USA and Qatar Government.

In the year 2009, Delta quit its services from Atlanta to Mumbai due to tough competition with the Gulf Airlines. Thenceforth, Delta flew from Amsterdam to Mumbai till the beginning of 2015.

American Airlines took the place of Delta Air Lines in 2012.

Later, United Airlines came into the scene and became the only US carrier to operate from USA to India without facing any competition.

Delta’s Strategic Entry into Mumbai: Competing with Established Players and Enhancing Connectivity for Indian Travelers

Mumbai is the prime destination for business in the Asia-Pacific region hence can be a great pick for Delta flights. Since, all the business flyers prefer non-stop flights so, Delta is all set to commence its direct flight business in India.

Delta Air Lines’ direct flights to India is going to compete with Air India & United Airlines (Newark to Mumbai) flights in business terms.

With regard to comfort, travel time and convenience, Delta can be a hard competition to Emirates’ direct flights from Newark to Dubai and single-stop services to other 9 cities in India. Delta may also benefit the flyers who used to fly to Ahmedabad via Mumbai.

Delta’s main hub is Atlanta and Indians who are residing in Atlanta are hopefully looking forward to this Delta’s new aviation business with India.

Delta will disclose the full schedule of its direct flights to India by the end of the year 2018.

Conclusion:

Delta’s non-stop flights to India will be a great initiative in Indian-American air business. We at Flyopedia, hope that Delta’s comeback in India shall bloom for everybody’s good.
