United Airlines Opens Its Largest Airport Lounge in Houston Terminal B North
United has opened the biggest lounge in its network, and it sits in Houston. The new United Club at George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) opened on October 22, 2026. It covers 54,000 square feet and seats 800 people, so finding a chair at a busy hub should stop being a gamble. Two full-service bars anchor the space. Past the dining areas, an outdoor terrace looks straight onto the airfield, and you can watch planes taxi while you wait for yours. The club is the centrepiece of United’s rebuild of Terminal B North.
New United Airlines Lounge at Houston Airport
At 54,000 square feet, the new United Club in Terminal B North at George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) is the biggest club United has built, and the airline says it is the largest of any airline in the Americas. You scan your boarding pass at the entry kiosks, then ride an escalator up to the mezzanine. The entrance is after security, near Gate B11.
There are seats for 800 people, so you can eat, work or just sit before your flight without circling for a chair. Two full-service bars and buffet stations cover food and drinks, and eleven private phone booths give you somewhere quiet for a call. An outdoor terrace of 1,350 square feet looks out over the airfield. If you’re stuck on a long connection, this is where you’ll want to wait.
What Facilities Does the New United Club Offer?
The new United Club at Houston Airport (IAH) has plenty of facilities for passengers to make a layover easier. It seats 800 people and has an outdoor terrace, two full-service bars, two buffet stations, eleven private phone rooms, and high-speed Wi-Fi and power outlets throughout. Here is what each facility means for your layover.
- 800 seats in four areas – The seating splits into four zones, including the Texas-themed Lasso Lounge and the Moonshot Lounge. Some corners suit a quick snack, others suit a laptop.
- Outdoor terrace – Step outside onto 1,350 square feet of open air and watch planes land and take off.
- Two full-service bars – Moonshot’s tequila bar draws on Houston’s Space City identity, and the other bar anchors the Lasso Lounge.
- Two buffet stations – You can grab a plate before you board, or sit down and take your time.
- Eleven phone rooms – If you have to take a call in private, you can use these rooms without raising your voice over the lounge.
- Wi-Fi and power – Both are available throughout the club, so your phone and laptop stay charged while you work.
- Barista coffee – This club is one of only two in the United system with it, alongside the Newark club.
Houston Airport’s Terminal B Undergoes a $2.6 Billion Upgrade
The new United Airlines lounge is just one piece of a $2.6 billion transformation of Terminal B at George Bush Intercontinental Airport at Houston. Its centrepiece is the new North Concourse, three levels and 765,000 square feet, with 22 mainline gates. The building replaces facilities that date to 1969. The larger gates let United fly bigger, more modern aircraft with more seats.
More than 105,000 square feet go to shops and restaurants that reflect Houston’s food scene. Local names include B&B Butchers & Restaurant, Blood Bros. BBQ and Katz Coffee, so you can eat well before you board. Ten large art installations tell the story of the city’s history, culture and landscape. Families get a play area, and anyone who needs quiet can use the new sensory room. For a hub that handles this many connections, that is a real change in how a layover feels.

- Star Alliance Gold – United’s Star Gold members need their Star Alliance Gold card and a same-day boarding pass for an international flight operated by a Star Alliance airline. Gold members of other programs can enter at the departure airport on domestic and international trips.
- One-time passes – Passes cost $59 per person and you can buy them in the United app. Some cards, such as the United Explorer Card, include two passes a year. Passholders cannot bring guests, and entry depends on space. On departing flights you can enter only up to three hours before your scheduled departure, and connecting flights have no time limit.
